Cool, well we do thank you muchly for the hard work! I think 10.6.8 and 10.7.x will share the same bugs now anyhow. Our next step is 10.5.8 compatibility.

10.5.8 wow that's starting to get hardcore. I do have a 10.5.8 on a backup in case my primary disk messed up somehow. But rebooting and testing on that really would be work. :D. I won't be doing any testing for 10.5.8 but I will keep maintaining this thread for new bugs and the like. Now that Mountain Lion is out, there might be issues coming up in the near future.

Thank you sir! We both appreciate it :)

Yeah we don't expect testing on the 10.5.8 aside from those who use it. Steam says it is 3.3% of the customer base. We just wanted to make sure they did not miss out.

Thought I was out of luck and couldn't play until I they (finally) bring out the new iMac. Would be pretty cool if I could!

Yup we are working on 10.5.8 now. Shouldn't take too long.

I think what you are after if something like the alt-tab functionality on the PC (which never worked quite right either) If this is the case, windowed mode and setting a custom resolution to your screen size may help. The minimize option from full screen will not work on the Mac version unfortunately. Our porting contact let me know that in fixing that we may break other things and this would become a very large task.

I am rendered almost incomprehensible by my joy at learning that there's at least one dev still willing to spend time and effort to make a game 10.5.8 compatible. Behold, I dance.

I'm using 10.5.8 (very happy to see you're tackling this issue) @ 2.4 GHz, Core 2 Duo, 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM: As I'm sure you're aware it simply crashes upon attempting to run the application and does not work.

I just bought in through Humble Bundle, for this game alone. Such a shame it doesn't work out of the box, but I'm looking forward to seeing it working!

Hi guys. First of all, let me say, AWESOME game, and thank you very much for making a Mac version in the first place.

I've experienced the bugs stated in this thread, such as the fullscreen bug (so I play in windowed mode, not that big a deal). I use Mac OS 10.6.8 and SPAZ v.1.605 (not on Steam).

The big issue I'm having now is the sound bug (sound cuts out -- 30 seconds later, or whenever I try to change areas, the game freezes and I must force quit). It used to only occur rarely, but now in Chapter 4 (usually when in big firefights) it has been happening all the time -- I can't complete the "Do Zombies Cry" quest, because it hangs within 5 minutes every time. So I'm basically stuck.

Anything you guys can do about this crash on 10.6.8 would be GREATLY appreciated, because I really enjoy the game but am unable to play now. Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi, I just got SPAZ through the humble indie bundle and it was the one I most looked forward to playing. But every time I try to start it up it simply crashes with no error report or anything, even in windowed mode. I've tried to turn all the effects down and such but it simply won't comply. I get past the launcher and it doesn't crash until after i push space bar on your guys' story and then I will see the SPAZ main title but seems like it crashes when loading the menus or something.

My Mac specs:
15-in MBP mid 2012
OS X version 10.8.2
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB

Using version 1.605 of SPAZ

Any kind of input would be sweet, really looks like a sweet game, spent hours watching let's plays of it on YouTube.

Have you tried looking for the crash report as per the instructions in the OP. Even if the crash reporter doesn't pop up, OSX logs just about everything. Even just the relavent part of the console.log would be useful.

It shouldn't take too long but try downloading it again and reinstalling it. It might just be a corrupted download. Give it a try and report back.

Without logs it is going to be hard to find a fix. Since you are running 1.8.2 this could be a new bug the devs will want to hear about it. The lastest update could have broken certain things like it did with WINE.

Ok, it looks like there is an issue. I have PMed the Devs. They should be having a look soon and hopefully in a couple of days come out with a solution as they have a pretty quick turn around.

RE: Atgard

If you can provide some logs it would really help figure out whether there is a new issue or not. I haven't played the game for a while so I am not in a position to verify the issue.

I can try to get some logs next time (if I try to play again), but it sounds exactly like the sound bug that has already been reported in this thread numerous times. The sound cuts out, then a minute or so later, the game will freeze and require a force quit. Or, if you try to leave the current system or head back to the mothership, it will freeze.

The further I get in the game, with more action going on, the worse the problem seems to become.

I have forwarded the details of the 10.8.2 bug to our porting contact. Out of curiosity, is anyone here running 10.8.2 and has it running properly?

I´m on OS X 10.6.8 and the newest (Humble Bundle) version of the game.

I have two bugs here:
a) i can not start the game in fullscreen as mentioned above, playing it in windowed mode works and is ok.

b) i´m now in chapter 3 and the "sound off/crash after 30 secs OR after leaving the area"-bug occurs really often. First it happened sometimes but i could reload the last save state after rebooting the game and play on for at least an hour. But now in chapter 3 it happened three times within or after the same big battle (i´m too frustrated all these hours of heroic fighting are lost  ).

Would be so great if there would be a solution for b). Playing in (a huge) window is not a problem at all.

Thanks,
captain drym

Can both of you go to the opening post and follow the instructions to grab the crash reporter logg. I bug hunted the Steam version to the point where it's pretty much free of CTD bugs but I don't have the humble version which appears to have it's own separate issues for whatever reason.

The important thing is that once we get the logs, work can begin on a fix.

As a quick note, I also have the Humble Bundle version, running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and am having the exact same experience as drym.

I also got the Humble Bundle, have been enjoying the game immensely, but have gotten the audio cutout/hang issue a couple of times. OSX 10.6.8 on an iMac. I can't find any crash report, but I have the console.log - who should I send it to?
thanks
