I COULD have copied the relevant passage...here it is:

Hi Everyone. Sorry for the Mac problems. It turns out that the HIB Mac version lacks a lot of the fixes that were already in the Steam version. I think that an old version was mistakenly released. So, if you have a Steam key, please use that in the mean time. Otherwise, we are working on getting this fixed. I am emailing the porter trying to get this resolved asap. Once resolved, a new build will also be available on your download link from the HIB website.

This is probably not porter's fault really. With HIB going on and him porting probably half of the titles to two operating systems, builds were flying off in every direction I am sure. We will get it all sorted out though, not to worry.

Thank you for looking into this. I'd rather wait for the standalone than play through Steam, so I am looking forward to the updated version.

I´ll also wait.
I don´t have a steam-account and do want to play "on my own" as in the old days.

There´s a lot of work to do at the moment anyway. Maybe you´re done when i´m through...

I´m now playing via Steam and it seems to work. No crash within the last hour and finally i could win that fight.
Strange thing: there´s no sound at all.
I don´t know why that is but for the moment i don´t care. I´m listening to some music and exploring space. Will switch back to standalone as soon as it´s available, though.

Did anything happen in the meantime?
Would be great to get sound back - even if i prefer to play without sound and without crashing... ;-)

So, if the bugs were already fixed and an old version was accidentally released, can't you just give us a download link to the current version or have the game update automatically or something?

Because the new version isn't ported? They have to port the fixes first.

Hi! Thanks for the awesome game guys. I've been playing SPAZ on steam, and last night as i exited the game, steam crashed. subsequently, as i've tried to open it today, i was notified that "the game is currently unavailable (corrupt game files)". I've tried restarting steam as well as reinstalling SPAZ, but to no avail. any tips?

Give this a shot. Verify the game by right clicking the name, then Local files, Verify local game cache. If that doesn't work go to /Users/YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps and delete "spaz mac depot.ncf" then restart steam. "Reinstall" the game and it should be working.

Well, mine isn't exactly a bug but a problem nonetheless. I bought the game from Mac Game Store and wanted to insert my saved game which I started on my friends computer. I just cant find the folder for game saves, its not at $HOME/Library/Application Support/SpacePiratesAndZombies/b_save, tried throughout Finder and Terminal, the folder just isn't there. Neither can I find the savefile by its name with spotlight. The game itself handles saves as it should. I'm running OS X 10.8.2 on rMBP. The game is 1.605.

Ok it seems the corrupt files bug on Steam is for everyone. There was an upload to Steam last night that apparently broke this and we are all over getting it fixed. Our apologies.

I´m playing on Steam right now. At startup he did some kind of update but it still runs (approx. 1h of playing).
Is that right? Or SHOULD it be crashing? Then something must be wrong with my system (hehe).

Hi guys. Any update on the sound bug that causes crashes? It's been over a month, I haven't been able to play the game.

Still waiting on a resolution to this unfortunately. If you are willing to try the Steam version I can get you a key if you email me at contact@spazgame.com

Now I know better than taking a chance on indie stuff through the Humble Bundle.

As this is my first post, I want to say thanks to the developers for making this game. I also liked the story you posted on the Steam forums about how the game was made. Very entertaining and informative.

I bought this game as part of a Humble Bundle. I'm also experiencing some of the issues listed in this thread with the build provided by the HIB. I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and upgrading is not an option at the moment. Also, some Mac users can't upgrade past 10.6.8 because of a 32-bit EFI issue (and Apple being uncooperative), but that's a whole other can of worms. That's not my situation, but it should be noted.

I think it's great that you're offering Steam keys to users that purchased the game through HIB. However, I have philosophical issues with DRM that I won't get into here. ;) A Steam key isn't a solution for me since I don't use Steam and don't intend to.

Do you have an update on when HIB purchasers can expect a new version?

Thanks for any information you can share about this situation.

I am not sure actually whats happening. What little more I do know is that the developers might have "lost" the updated non-steam version of this game as the OSX port wasn't developed in house. Give Blofly a PM on the Issue and point him back here. They could have very well forgotten about this with them working on SPAZ 2.

Seems I can't send private messages yet: "We are sorry, but you are not authorised to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more to be able to use this feature."

Would you mind sending a pm for me?
