Please post your PR and Marketing ideas here. We would love to hear them. In the next few days we really need to get a buzz going while SPAZ is still shiny and new.

Even posting sites that we should send press packages to would help. I am sure that our list is not comprehensive. Currently the following sites are on our list:

Rockpapershotgun.com
Eurogamer.net
Indiegamingmag.com
jayisgames.com
indiegames.com
bluesNews
Kotaku
DiyGamer
penny arcade
giantbomb
nightmaremode
indiedb
spacesimcentral
gamasutra
1up
gamingirresponsibly
shacknews
vg247
rpgWatch
gamezone
PCgamer
playthisthing
indiegamereviewer
Gamespot
evilAvatar

Thanks for any and all ideas.

I live in Holland and there are two things that come to my mind:
- gamer.nl is a site which check every day on my phone. It has a mobile app, so i can imagine quite some dutch people have it on their phones. I don´t know if they are Indie orientated, but you might give it a shot.
- gamekings.tv is a dutch television show which, i think, is also quite popular. I don´t really watch it that often anymore, but I used to. Again, i don´t know if they are Indie orientated.

Hope they help you guys out :)

Another English-language gaming site is PikiGeek - http://geek.pikimal.com/

I have a subreddit set up on Reddit.com (see my signature) to try and drum up some support like /r/minecraft did. Only 12 subscribers at the moment though.

i know it might sound daft, but send a copy to Notch, of minecraft fame.

Firstly, he's into Indie Games as a whole (not just because he makes them)
Second, he's into Space Sim games (tho don't quote me on that. I do remember reading something about him liking/missing games from the X/Freelancer era, which i feel kinda fits SPAZ)
Third, he's forever plugging awesome indie games from "underdog" developers (I'm pretty sure a 2 man team working from home for years would count)

Can't, hurt, right? :)

Oh, and I'd like to echo Antario's suggestion of Zero Punctuation at The Escapist. It's a long shot, but i feel worth it none-the-less. :)

Just be careful of ZP though, he's not known for making un-scathing reviews. =D

No kidding. I think the only game he has ever liked is Painkiller.

A thumbs up from him, on the other hand, is serious +EV.

Gameplay is a belgium gaming magazine that favors pc games and also has a soft spot for indie games (whether or not they are finished). They also distribute into the Netherlands. The magazine features a dvd with each issue, upon which they usually put demos,s creenshots, audio files, etc. Getting them to cover your game is very well possible, and if they do, you can send them the demo to slap onto their dvd. If you can't find them at first, try searching for "PC gameplay", as the magazine was originaly called.

Added a request to Sweden's largest gaming site fz.se to add your game in their database and maybe write an article.
Will keep you posted :)

http://www.ve3d.com (part of IGN)... whilst normally more AAA titles, one of the writers (Ohmwrecker) has started to show more of the indie side of gaming as of late. I believe it has a very large following and might be a good target. Glad you already have Rock Paper Shotgun on there, have been quite surprised that they have yet to mention anything at all about the SPAZ, especially as I first heard of it from there months ago.

EDIT - nevermind, you already have a mention on VE3d:

I'll second sending the game to Notch :) even if he just mentions on his twitter, that's a couple of hundred thousand more people that know about SPAZ right there :p and its that word of mouthy kind of stuff that will really do wonders for a game like SPAZ

I'd consider informing a site like http://www.insidemacgames.com... even though there's not a mac version, if its remotely on the cards down the line, they might mention it, they've done that in the past from memory and indie games get a lot of love there normally...

tbh though, apart from word of mouth from the community, pushing to get SPAZ on steam is probably the best thing you could do for awareness at this point i think. Pretty sure it would go like hotcakes, especially with the 25% off for the pre-order...

Huge props to the devs for making SPAZ btw, its like a dream game for me. i've been waiting for something like this since i first played EV Nova back in the early 2000's :p finally a game that lives up to it :)

SPAZ in style reminds me a lot of Gratuitous Space Battles.. and Cliffski also runs http://www.showmethegames.com/ which showcases indie games. So he may be worth contacting.

There are quite a few popular live broadcasts on justin.tv

Some that come to mind are: Swiftor, Celgaming, MAN vs GAME and a few more.

These all have thousands of regular viewers, and I think it's a bit special to watch someone experience the game for the first time live, with people chatting and asking questions about the game.

A good place (in my opinion) to get your game some notice is "The Independent Gaming Source". I go to that site almost daily to see whats happening in the Indie game world. Their forums have an "announcements" section where you can post a little "this is our game" blurb, and I am positive you will get some face time on the main page. :D

http://www.tigsource.com/

-Cheers!
