Hi Everyone,

The latest patch v1.011 is now live on Steam and should be propagating through the rest of the distribution network, and the in game patcher should be aware of it by now.

This is a smaller patch where we turned off the Halloween Mod by default (but it is still available) and added a few things:

- Added New max resolution 2560x1600
- Added Drones have afterburners
- Added Dump surplus goons button "u"

You can see the full patch notes here:
http://www.spacepiratesandzombies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2343

We plan to start the Mac porting next week, beginning with purchasing a couple Macs. We are looking to get a couple middle of the road machines that are generally in line with our min specs for SPAZ. Machines running cpu's of 2.5ghz+ would be ideal. If any of you have suggestions on what is a good "everyman" Mac we would appreciate it.

Beyond that, next Friday-Sunday we will probably be mostly offline. Skyrim, company holiday. :)

Don't you mean "research?" I'm sure this must be deductible in some way. ;)

Hah! Who wouldn't wait for Skyrim?
Still, nice new patch. My favourite drones are getting better and better.

Using Virtualbox and a Windows XP VM (and VirtualBox's tools installed for 3D support!), I can play it with slight slowdowns on a 13" MBP 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo w/ 8GB RAM (2GB assigned to the VM). This mac was an entry-level MBP when I purchased it, I've only added RAM.

So, my suggestion? Aim for an entry level MBP.

Excellent, thanks for the suggestion. The specs also seem about right processor wise.

A greater concern will be OpenGL itself. OSX 10.6(Current majority) runs an extended version of 2.1. It supports every function in 3.0 except for shader language 1.3 so your floor Mac operating system is likely to be 10.6.8 with the graphical update.

10.7 "Lion" provides OGL 3.2 and GSGL 1.5 but is a "Clean break" from previous versions. Apple can explain it better than I can. All the Macs you buy now will by default be loaded with 10.7.

Absolute minium graphics cards would be a nVidia 7600gt 256MB or maybe a ATI Radeon X1600 with 128MB(256 upgraded) of GDDR3 SDRAM. Processor speed would be no lower than 2.0 GHz (T7200), but they will all be dual core. But at that level RAM is going to be a bit thin with the default at 512MB, but 1GB would not be out of the question.

Have a quick peak on Steam for current hardware averages. Current averages will more than satisfy your requirements so if you aim a little below that your probably golden.

Hello! I happen to be a Mac owner and a friend of mine recently gifted me SPAZ on steam. Two questions:
1. Is it safe to accept the PC version? Will I get the Mac version as well when it comes out?
2. Do you know how long approximately it will take you to make the port? As in, in a few weeks or in a few months?

I believe you will have access to the mac version when it is ready. I'd say Mac version is about a month away roughly.

iPatch, lol. I am sure if we used that we would be sued. Still funny :)

@Devilius, Steam wise, we plan on using Steamplay so the same key will work for Mac and PC.

Yes they did revive a much dead post and turned it into a Necromorph,.. but.. Mac users have been waiting a while for a Mac only version. Though they could have made a new post...

OnLive supports Mac, and we are now on that service. A true Mac version is still in the works.
