In regards to the steam cloud syncing.

When you boot up SPAZ and get to that splash setup screen.
(where you select screen resolution debris count and if you want DX compatibility)
Go back to your saves folder and remove the .cs.dso file again you wanted gone.
(this file is downloaded by the syncing between launching the game and getting to the splash screen)
While keeping your edited sg_"Save".cs file. (you can double check it if necessary, but I can say it's "all good")

After that you can press The big green launch game button.

No need for off-line mode or anything. :)

I only did this for a second play through save to have 8 huge hangar bays.
In a new 300 stars and insane difficulty system. And the rest still has to be "earned".

Not touching my first play through casual save that's at chapter 4.
EVEN when it's tempting. :p

saving.cs.dso doesn't seem to disable CRC checking since the latest update. (1.506 or so) Is a new version required?

Extract it and Overwrite the other one in "...game/gamescripts/"

If you have done this but it still doesn't work, try saving your game with other name and delete the old one. CRC checker should be disabled now.
Last time it didn't work the first time for me either :)

Were there any changes between the 1.506 saving.cs.dso and the 1.600 saving.cs.dso?

I was greeted by a corrupted savegame error message after tweaking a cheat's save game and I've seen the filesizes were different.
(steam redownloaded the correct game files during the update :) )

the packupped 1.506 saved ".bak" was about 30.4KB
the current 1.600 is about 30.8KB
The version with CRC check disabled is about 29.9KB

Apparently, my edited save game still works fine, EXCEPT that the number of hangar has been reset to 4.
I will try to edit and let you guys know again.

Hmm, Does anyone else have problem loading saved games?

Seems that all my edited game are not valid since 1.6 became active.

I've installed the newest CRC Disabler (download/file.php?id=179)

However, even save that were considered valid before are now not accepted.

If any one can help, it would be appreaciated in advance.

you can access any star except the special zombie stars at the end of the game (which is a small galaxy in the big galaxy).

Sorry if you get it as a cheat, but as EvilNinja said : you don't have so much to to in the game...
Dispite the fact that the game developers said we'll get modding tools (manualy editing a source file is NOT modding tools...) we get nothing more to do with this game...
As it's dead game (last update 10/08/2012) I don't understand why all the source scripts can't be given to players to make real mods or total conversion.
It's my oponion but I think it's a lack of respect for the gamers to pretend there will be some tools or other update whereas there is nothing more to wait for...

By the way, if you want only friends (or only ennemies, but for some missions it will be hard if you must protect it, is it still a cheat if it makes the game impossible ??? :-p) :
Replace the numbers after the "Earth_Story" (in this example) like that :

First : Civ
Second : Civ vs UTA
Third : UTA

1 = Friend (to keep it simple)
0.5 = Neutral
0 = Enemy

The game is not dead.
Why do people look at last update to determine if game is dead???
There are good reasons why all the script files aren't released yet.
Although now that i think about it, something like the in-game hangar could have been made so that replacing equipment would be easier with a lot less bugs, it would probably require a lot of work.

Hi, sorry to bump this thread again, but is there any way to isolate the savefile as outlined by Glarg on a Mac?

Run SPAZ and open any savegame, and then save it. There should now be a .cs file (that is more than 1KB) in %appdata%\MinMaxGames\SpacePiratesAndZombies\b_save

If there is, save wherever you like. I made a "Spazmod" folder on the desktop, and copied it into it twice, renaming one with .bak (so I will always have the original even when I edit the other one).
Now go back and right click on "SpacePiratesAndZombies" folder and do all this again because we are going to remove the special permissions editing we just created so you don't have any mysterious problems in the future when you don't remember having done this.

Sorry to bump this old topic, but I have a far easier way for Windows and a way to do it on OS X and Linux. Instead of changing directory permissions to disable deleting, why not just use a symbolic link? When SPAZ goes to delete the old .cs file, it deletes the symlink, not the file that it points to. I've used this on both Windows and Linux and it works fine.

Windows - Open up command prompt (cmd.exe) and travel to the b_save folder. Make a text file on your desktop called anything, then run the following, replacing <savename> with your save name and <filename> with the name of the file on your desktop:

mklink <savename>.cs %HOMEPATH%\Desktop\<filename>

Example:

mklink Default.cs %HOMEPATH%\Desktop\Default.cs


Linux and OS X - Open up a terminal emulator and travel to the b_save folder. Make a text file in your home directory called anything, then run the following, replacing <savename> with your save name and <filename> with the name of the file in your home directory:

ln -s <savename>.cs ~\<filename>

Example:

ln -s Default.cs ~\Default.cs


You'll need to re-save your game for this to work, and you'll have to do this every time you want to get your save because the link will be deleted after SPAZ saves.
