Greetings fellow SPAZ players and modders. I have a little something I think everyone will enjoy. As it's my first forey into SPAZ modding it's a pretty simple mod that adds the following mounts to the Carrier hull...the largest of the "huge" size hulls in the game.

Huge turret mounts X4
Large drone bays X2
Huge utility mounts X3

When used in tandem with the quad turrets, or the ArcaTech mod...this ship becomes an engine of destruction...ideal for the higher difficulty settings or to just try and solo the game with one ship.

To anyone that has seen my extensive moding of Gratuitious Space Battles I PROMISE there's more to come! Until then...enjoy the additional slots (I for one use them for shield, engine, and reactor boosters....or focal/overload emitters)

I have not investigated the rar, but the mod should only contain .cs files, no compiles .dso files. This will at least allow us to scan the mod. We hope to have a process in place in the future where we can verify mods with the community's help. For now, if some trusted community members can scan the .cs files and give the thumbs up or down that would be a help.

I appologize for not being able to post a picture. I don't know how to take screenshots in-game or in the design screen...and I really can't run more than SPAZ while playing it (old-ish PC) So if there's something I've overlooked I appologize.

All I can offer is my word that the file IS NOT a virus. I'm aware that my word is not worth a great deal, but until I either build my reputation as a modder, get a new computer, or find out HOW to take a screenshot...my word is all I can offer.

Well if your running the game through steam... you can hit f12 key to make a picture.

Also I didn't mean to suggest it IS a virus... just that... if I don't see pics I will NOT download something. Pics lend more credibility to something actually being legit then words even if a picture is easy to fake.

Firstly ViroMan...I must confess that was the implication as I read it...but I'm greatful for the explination and as far as I'm concerned no hard feelings whatsoever.

Secondly: as far as not downloading a mod unless it has a picture to go along with it...I can't say I entirely blame you for your stance on the matter.

Sadly, as I'm not running the game via steam (I downloaded it directly from here) that F12 trick is not viable.

meh no biggie...I'll continue to mod, and upload any work I consider worthy of posting.

Are you aware of the Print Screen (PrtScr on mine) key? Pressing that will take a screenshot of the entire display. You can then put that in an image editing program and save it as a compressed format, such as .jpg, .gif, or .png.

There are many places to upload images where you can then use an [img] tag and their URL to display here.

Print screen button? what, are we in the stone age. Sure it works but, I am sure there is a much more complicated and technical way for him to get pictures. We should look for it.

PS just paste it into paint.net(free program) and create a png or jpg

Print Screen button is the most effective and efficient way of doing it. ALT+Print Screen will only print the active window as a FYI.

A more complicated and technical way?

Why should we eat using our mouths? Let's just use IV drips in backpacks strapped to our backs. That is more complicated and technical.
What is the point of bicycles? They were made decades ago and are probably outdated. Why don't we design a safety motor-unicycle? It'll be like a one-wheeled segway that is designed to not hurt anyone and can never fall. It'll be very complicated and involve lots of technical difficulties but at least it is modern age!

Seriously, as Palandus said, it is a very effective way of doing it, if it works well we don't need an alternative. Again, the best alternative is Steam's screenshot function. Any other way other than a screencapture program (which is still slightly unnecessary unless it adds onto the print screen functionality) is probably excessive in deviance from the simple way of doing it.

At this point I feel compelled to open my probablly overly big mouth yet again.

Earlier on I stated that I DID NOT buy the game through steam...and thus that option is unavailable to me.

I have not tried the print screen button yet...but will do so soon.

I would like to thank everyone that has offered their advice on the matter, however it seems that this thread has gone dramatically off topic...

Has anyone had issues with the mod? What are people's opinion's of it?

well im thrilled someone from the GSB forums is hear...nice to know I'm not the only one who likes both games.

I'm pretty sure my fellow GSB modders Praetores Archduke and Darkstar would have made their presence known to me IF they were here.

but moving on...anyone that has seen my Union mod for GSB know's what I can do/am capiable of...once I figure out the finer details of modding S.P.A.Z. I WILL be creating the Resolute!

And @ flypaste...I have no problem with off topic discussion...myself. I'm more concerned about the moderators having issue with it.

oh, well, im a verrry small modder on GSB. ive added the gazelle frigate as a large for spaz, but it came out looking realy retarded.
ive made some small weird gizmos to GDB(imperial fighter shield, tribe fighter repair systems, pimped out fighter generators, really big EMP shields, adding extra mounts, ETC). so, i know my way around GSB. just cant make ships. so,i geuss you have met another GSB modder? :)

Well...I'm greatful to say that I've met another GSB modder...Xernes also seems to play GSB...his Citadel ship is made entirely of parts from GSB.

the "Key" to making GSB ships is simple cut and paste jobs with existing components...I've discussed this at length in the Union thread a few times (just search for it)

I have yet to crack the ship making in SPAZ yet. But when I do I expect to turn some heads...I have a knack for making high-priced, high powered tech and ships that more or less mean "excessive overkill"

Oh wow, we should find them on those forums and ask them to convert Praetorian Industries to S.P.A.Z. Imagine a Leviathan :shock:

I know I'm asking a really stupid question here but how do I install it? I can't figure where to put it, it's in the wrong format for mods folder isn't it?

well you have two real options to install it.

Option 1: you can simply go into Spaz/game/gamescripts/datablocks/ships/hulls and replace the hugehulls.cs with the file you download from me, effectively replacing the Carrier hull in the game with my modded one...and simply not use every mount availiable.

Option 2: if you've downloaded the modding package simply copy the template files, name the mod what you wish, and replace the THAT version of hugehulls.cs with the one on this forum

I favor the first option because You will then effectively be able to run two mods at the same time...but thats me.

2 things... i used the mod and it is virus free... tho you put this mod with Morehangers and it slowed down my
AMD Phenom 2 x6 2.6ghz processor
8gig DDR3
