Sorry acevpetd, I'm not sure what could be wrong. Since the other mod has the same problem, clean re-install is all I could suggest too.

Is this Mac or PC?

PC, well actually a laptop. I also noticed that both mods in question are not generating dso files. I think that is part of the problem but I don't know for sure. The two built-in mods (winterholiday and halloween) have pre-generated dso files so those work fine. Maybe that info helps... :?:

Is the game installed in Program Files? Try installing it outside there. The Program Files folder(s) are more heavily protected from alteration by Windows Vista & 7.

That's definitely true. Good idea, I'll let you know if it works... :)

There is a really weird bug, when i start up the game i see the extra hangars and all that but the ships are bugged out and the images look absolutely strange, ask me if you need any pictures.

Hey, thanks for the mod, its just what i wanted.

@blorf: Maybe make the 123 and restore buttons able to be tab to? Like i hit tab to cycle between them and then enter to select? Im on a 1600 x 900 and i cant get to any of the 123 buttons up top. not a big deal for me though, cause i can just rebuild whenever i want to switch out i guess...

I really enjoy this mod, but since getting the clockwork E, I can't use the ABC configurations anymore. To try and solve this, I started poking around the mod files and found globalTuning.cs in the game scripts folder. I've opened it in jEdit, and it seems to allow me to reconfigure the number/type of hangars I have. Once I set my desired numbers, (<=6) what steps do I need to take to complete the change? I assume I'll need some sort of compiler to make it into a .cs.dso, but is there anything else?

I altered the hangar configuration somewhat, to
a) balance gameplay
b) aid whose computer can't handle 8 friendly units
c) work around the widescreen glitch

Code:
ch 1: unchanged
ch 2: L, M, S x2, T x2
ch 3: H, L, M x2, S x2
ch 4: H x2, L x2, M x2

If anyone gets the "only 8 mini hangars" issue on Linux (specifically, under the Ubuntu packaged version), the mod needs write permissions on the folders of the game, so you need to have the game installed somewhere you can modify files.

That means either change ownership of the folder to you, move it somewhere you own and do a symbolic link on the install folder, or run the game as root. Any of those work (I tried them all :P)

Yes. 8 is the hardcoded maximum amount of hangars.

The size of these hangers can be just about anything.
From 8 tiny's to 8 huges throughout the game. :)

Very nice mod, I like how instead of it just being a huge amount of hangers, the amount of hangers gets larger per ship upgrade.

*EDIT*
Sorry, I forgot the chapter, but, when you upgrade the clockwork to double it's size, the amount of hangers makes it hard, if not impossible, to reach the A B C customizations.

I unzipped your mod into the correct address. Of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Space Pirates and Zombies\mods but when I launch the game it does not show in the mod list.

I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Actually, when there are 7 or 8 hagnars, it is still relatively easy to pick the A B C(at least for me), you just need to be more pin-point accurate to hit the space between the 2 rectangles(hangars).

No, I think that's the coded maximum, and adding more would break the interface in any case.

And the interface can't be edited either, or people would have done it already to get rid of annoying button interference.

I took this script and made a different overkill of the hangar, but still only using 6 slots
It is as follows:

ch 0: S, T x5
ch 1: M, S x4, t
ch 2: L, M x4, S
ch 3: H, L x4, M
ch 4: H x5, L

Doing this was more easy then expected... Want this instead of doing it yourself? PM me :P
With 1600x900, i wonder if 7 hangers is possible instead of just 7...
According to what people have said, 8 is to much, but is 7 fine? well I'll have a look shortly ^^
I'll update this post when i got an answer ;)

I'm a little hesitant to post too much information without approval, as if the devs really wanted this portion of the game moddable right now, I'm sure it would already be in the mod tools, however for those of you who are clever...

As can be seen in a screenshot on my steam profile ("Kringe", The one with SPAZ in his game library.), it is possible to Hex edit the sizes of the hangar buttons on the left side to allow you to reach those A B C buttons at the top. The game script scales the images to an exact pixel size, so editing the images accomplishes nothing but aesthetics.

As you may also notice in the screenshot, you would need to edit the scaling of all the different components of the button for it not to look a little weird. My ship logos currently overlap the other buttons, but it's a small price to pay for access to the precious A B C's for my enormous fleet.

Fair warning, if you do not know the first thing about HEX editing, trying it out on SPAZ is probably a bad idea, and you should wait for further mod tool releases.

But please share this HEX edit to the rest of us.
And don't worry about us not knowing HEX editing.
This is a modding forum and we are not afraid to play with files. :twisted:

It can also be that the devs haven't realized for themselves, that this editing could be an option. :)

I would gladly have linked it, but the forum forbade such an action due to the low number of posts I have made. I figured someone would get it eventually. I'd still rather wait on sharing for a little bit to see if anyone explicitly forbids me from doing so.

Besides, sometimes all it takes for people to figure things out is a tantalizing little taste of success, right?
