I don't know where else to put it where I could get a general consensus, so I'll write here.
I noticed that the game displays some values caused by rounding errors. For instance, a ship may have a strange 79 crew capacity instead of 80.
It makes me wonder, should we have the wiki articles reflect exactly what is seen in-game or put the idealistic values they would have if they rounded up to the expected values?
(if you need an example, the Carrier's wiki article and in-game stats list base crew capacity as 199, when they would be expected to be 200)

This is a big issue isn't it? Alright here we go...

For the ships pages I would definitely put the actual statistics, because that's what people are going to want to know. Maybe add the theoretical value in brackets.
However if there is any mention of how these values are calculated/modified by factors like boosters, ship size or slot size or what-have-you, the theoretical statistics should be the focus as it is they that are being used. The ACTUAL values could be added here, along with at least a mention of the rounding error and the effect it has on the in-game values.

At least, from what I can gather.

Hey Kloreep, I have an account on the Wiki, but I would like to enter onto the site a Modding Tutorial, maybe explain how the files works, and what is what. How would I do that on the Wiki?

You mean how to create a new page? Figure out what you want its name to be, and type it into the search box. The wiki search will tell you it doesn't exist and provide a link at the top of the results to create it.

If you mean how to organize it and lay it out and all that... can't say I have any brilliant thoughts on that, but maybe other members do. :)

BTW, I made a barebones Mods hub page. It has pretty much nothing on it, and could certainly use some stuff like tutorials. :)

K, made a bare bones tutorial on the Wiki. Can be found if you search with "Modding Tutorial" ... sure wish it could be put somewhere more visible but oh well.

To be more visible you would want a link to the mod-hub page on the front page (and preferably easily seen), and then a link to your tutorial from the mod-hub page. Currently there is no link to the mod-hub on the homepage that I could see, so that is likely what is needed to be done.

The link is present in the edit copy of the homepage so somebody (it seems to usually be Kloreep) should just merge the copies.

Also, the exact copies of most of the images (some images like the module images would need assembly) are present in the modding files so somebody with upload permissions should get the mod pack and upload them. If not, I wonder if I can just ask for the permissions.

Now, I'm going to do some work on the modding pages, if you don't mind.

Just one note, I usually prefer a professionalistic style on the wiki, which I generally show with an objective viewpoint, so no references to the author. I'll work with the Modding Tutorial page later in case you mind, or you can just give me the green light now.
EDIT: I probably would leave it alone if it were marked as Palandus's modding tutorial, but perhaps there should be just one general modding tutorial all of us work on. I'll leave you to finish what you're doing with it before I swoop in, though.

Can I have an account on the wiki?
I want to improve some of the ship pages, I noticed a lot of spelling errors and some pages are still in need of images.
I'm active on two other wiki's and have experience with the Wiki system.

I don't suppose I could have a wiki account? I just feel some of the articles are a bit bare. Most of my job at work is technical writing and database content/management.

Nonsense. I just make it appear like I know what I'm doing... Wait- should I have waited until I got access to say that?

Has anyone decided on when actual values will make it into the wiki instead of just...
Cost: 0
Power Usage: Medium
Damage: Good
Range: Good
Firing Speed: Medium
Accuracy: Maximum

I mean... they are not very descriptive are they?

I just started playing a few days ago and am enjoying it. I have been using the wiki when I need some info and noticed something in the specialists section.

"Retiring Specialists
When a specialist is retired, you gain a one-time data bonus. Factors in the size of the bonus include specialist rank, grade, and level. (Actual formula?)"

Always enjoyed math so I figured I would give it a try. The basic formula is (level)*(grade value) for data on rookies then it doubles for each rank after.
The values for each grade start at 3 for Common and increasing by multiples of 3 for each grade after ending at 15 on Godlike.

An example would be a level 38 Elite Master would be 38*12*2*2 = 1824 data returned.

Figured I would post on here to see if I could add that in, but if not feel free to post the formula and values

I'd like to create a reference page with information about all of the different booster modules so they are easier to compare. When determining which modules are most beneficial, I found navigating through all of the tiny stubs to be inconvenient. The stubs are ideal for transclusion, so it will be a breeze to create a one-page reference (with no actual duplication of content, of course).
