Hint: You won't find any windows. You make them.
Spoiler: Find & melt some sand.

Ya, my brother showed me I could make glass ^.^

Hunting diamond to mine obsidian now. :3

-pointless update-
I layered an island in glass then hollowed it out. Building castle #3 on top of it now.
Getting the hang of it. Many deaths to lava xD

I managed to produce 29 Obsidian so far, I hear of portals, yet I've not seen the formula to craft them ?
On an other note, Iron and Diamond are a pita to get in good quantities.

4 wide 5 high frame of obsidian + light it on fire = portal to a really scary place

just a hint...dont go there your first time with full equipment, go naked and explore your spawn for a few seconds
chances are your portal spawns in mid-air and you instantly die to the fall or lava

To put it simple: No.

More complex: The Nether, or hell as some call it, simply does not support water. If you try to place some it will evaporate instantly into invisible (but hearable) steam. There is no way to extinguish yourself or make obsidian in the Nether.
Death from fire/lava is a very common death there.

Deep falls are also very dangerous.

Getting iron in significant quantities isn't that hard. Just uncover enough stone surfaces. The easiest way to do that is finding a cave and explore it: tousands of stone surfaces to uncover. You will struck iron very fast and at any depth.
Diamonds are harder though... you can use the method to find iron for diamonds as well, but you have to take into account that diamonds only appear at a certain depth and below (below level 20).
Another method would be an efficient/advanced style of mining.
You can read about that special way of mining here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minin ... rip_Mining
(ideal depth for mines: levels 10-20)

hehe, Just getting the hang of it man. You should see my second world. It looks nice :3
Also, I found the super slopes mod. had to clean it up cause it had issues with my 32x32 realistic HD texture mod. Was worth it tho.
I imagine that had something to do with the required block id mode. Takes block ID's restriction from the 0~127 to 0~255.
I'm putting together a set of mods and will setup a dedicated 100mb server when I'm ready :D

-edit-

Here is someone going large scale man... gg

hmm... the video looks like a partial fake.

I guess he he really blew up that ball, but the crater looks waay to spherical on the ground... besides that there is really no way to blow a hole into the bedrock. Not even with this much TNT.

Hmm, I seen one that modded TNT to be a nuke basically. Tho, the core game engine can't handle it well anyway. Most over the top stuff like that crashes it, corrupts chunks, etc.

Remember that hill, fufu
http://tinypic.com/r/x7qme/7
New tower in the back drop.
http://tinypic.com/r/p812p/7
Next to the tower, I have a lovely waterfall clear to the bedrock after a bit of selective digging.
http://tinypic.com/r/14kfqkg/7
Each excursion down, I took min equipment. Never know when you'll drown or end up in lava among other things. At least the water prevents falling to your death well enough. Picked up more Obsidian as well. Lots more available :3

I'll have a city eventually >:

Have a bit of diamond now, as well as finally some iron :D

Eh, it's gonna be a bit on the dedicated server. I have the spare bandwidth and cpu/ram on one of my dedicated servers to use, but I'm still learning the ins and outs of the java side of it. The Single player and Multi player are different. I have some ideals I intend to put into place for a persistent server and won't put it up till I can realize them to some degree.

Multiplayer can be fun, but the choice of server is very important.

Every server has a different configuration, load, capacity, number of players online when you are, admins and mods as well as various mods and plugins.

Depending on what you prefer, you can choose between small|crowded, survival|classic|semi-classic, moderated|unmoderated, modded&secure|secure|unmodded.

Personally I prefer small, unmodded, unmoderated and small servers (in simple terms "original"). Kinda feels like singleplayer, but you sometimes do things with someone else and can brag a little without having to care too much about opinions of others about your buildings.

On crowded servers you often have some troubles with performance, area claims, griefers, people who just suck and attention.
It's hard to get attention as a "good" builder amongst all the "brilliant" builders.

edit: anyone noticed that we have the only active topic on the entire board today?
We want SPAZ to quit Minecrack^^

Ya, I have considered "original" for the server, still might. More into the fun of just building with unlimited lego's and tinkering with the java side ;)
I'm pretty set on HD textures, and Super Slopes currently tho. I mean, come on. Corner pieces and slopes should be in "original" imo. <.<

OFF Topic:
Yes... Well, I got the hint that Spaz was not going to be, lets say tomorrow so I got minecrack.
I think the Spaz hype has about died at this point. Shame :/

-pointless update edit-

I wonder. Will I finish my city before the beta comes out or not.

Wait, that's a silly question. I'll never be finished with the city. How about connecting the 3 structures, building a wall around my area and the village that lives inside the wall with rails connecting the 4th tower over yonder to my bedrock level mine ?

I'd make that bet, only today was the last day of my free time. Well, the sort I can endlessly waste <.<

Used a map render, seems like best way to show current scope. Shame I can't show the extent of the mines.
At any rate, time to start planting lots of trees to build that village. ^.^
I still have to go back and apply the rest of the slope pieces, jagged edges atm for most of it still...

I'll chuck in my 2c worth here (I still check the boards hoping for news on Beta).... nice minecraft map, have yet to try online with MC but really should give it a go sometime. I heard that RockPaperShotgun has a good one to try out - any of you guys tried it?

Going to have to give that cartography tool you used a whirl... I have to wonder what my above ground mob spawner looks like from that angle.

Also, do you play on peaceful or have a problem with mobs spawning in the structures you made Scarletmadness? Looks like it could have a few dark corners leading to an unwelcome Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

Na, that does not render the torches, lights, etc.
I keep everything pretty well lit. Before I could get the cielings done or would have to wait on more charcoal for torches. I'd have to mop up mobs time to time. I do have to do patch work over annoying creepers time to time as well.
Tho, been using my magic Netherrack and flint to make better boarders :D
I keep a portal in the basement of the structure on the right. :3

hmm, I get so far, I'll make a video maybe. Underground is just.... many many times the surface. Tho, thankfully I've found all the iron I need to start laying rails and updating to iron doors :3

Light keeps em from spawning, but they roam where they like it seems o.O

-edit-
Hmm, Really keep having to fix issues with the Super Slopes pack. idk. I might have to ditch them, getting to be a hassle.
Can't get textures to all ways work right with them and they fail to render some times all together. :/
I really really want to go back and fill in stuff with them tho >:

Oh, and ya. DivingDuck I play on easy currently, the mobs add fun even if they can be annoying. I have beds in various places as well.
need to setup some traps with water to farm automagic drops some time while I'm thinking about it tho. Stupid animals all ways crowding my light. >:

That's just the way the background works. You can see through sigs too.

Is anyone else irked that the only thing being talked about on the forum lately is Minecraft? (not that Minecraft isn't great)

This.

No one caught my jab about finishing my __city__ before spaz was released did they :p
I'd be spamming some retarded petition to release spaz, even if it's in a crap state if I had not turned to Minecrack :D

Spaz ppls, Pre-beta paid early access at a discount does not have to be polished, and perfect. We know it's not finished. Gib noa :p

Keep running out of cobble, Smelted to many into stone :p
And ugh, need to keep planting them trees, it'll be time for the village before long. :D
