image 1: my world started off with most of that hill (the tallest around), just added a staircase and another wall (which we'r looking at right now), the rock layer has been carved out to make a place to build exits out off, it also has a staircase and minecart rail all the way down to bedrock plus a massive mining network on lvl 12-16

Minecraft 2.jpg [204.19 KiB]
Downloaded 1 time

image 2: you see most of the other crap here, my yard, a mob trap and the lava dustbin
im trying to get the big evul tower look going, but that will take some more work
im probably gona carve away the sand hill to the left of the tower to create a flat space to start my next project....no clue what it will be tho

now post some screenshots of your world

Well... I also made something big, perhaps not as big as a full-scale enterprise, but still big. I made this together with a friend of mine, who uploaded the video.

And just recently (today to be exact) I finished a 16-Bit ALU on the same map, made with another friend

It's actually working!
We haven't figured out yet how to use other abilities than adding and 16x XOR, but in theory it must be capable of subtracting and some other more or less useful things
And it has a very nice interface (that black box in the middle) - it is hollow and filled with levers and blinking lights, giving you the impression that you are IN a coumputer.

The small golden thing below the black box is the "program" (which is made out of 3 bits, so we potentially have 8 programs and from 2 we know what they actually do)

i dont understand those things, i get that they work

but can you calculate anything with it? aka does it have any 'use' apart from functioning like a real one does

we just found out 4 other functions: subtract, 16x XNOR, increment, invert
And yes, you can calculate with it... you have to input every bit of the two numbers by hand, but you can calculate in various ways.
But no, this is just made for fun. It has no actual use.

But when the first mathematicans dealed with the concept of a zero, others asked why they are dealing with "nothing"...^^

Primitive graphics, serious balance issues, simplistic gameplay.

And probably the best game I've played in the past 2 years.

I can't get enough. I watch YouTube videos of people dying in bizarre ways, and laugh my ass off, because I've died just as stupidly myself. I read threads on how to beautify my house. I spend hours chopping through stone because...actually, I'm not sure why...because it's there?

The best was, I got flint and steel but never thought to use it, having too much fun building. So one day I'm bored, I go, wonder what would happen if I lit up a tree? (I'm on a heavily wooded continent) So I lit one. Long story short, I deforested the entire continent. It burned and burned. The whole horizon was on fire. The sun went down, and I could see, way off in the distance, new fires breaking out. It was glorious. Lasted 15 minutes easily. I had no idea, I just thought a tree would burn down, that's it. Of course, I was on the floor laughing, but if I hadn't cut the trees down around my house, my house woulda burnt down as well.

Looks nice... I also tried some castles myself, but they all looked really bad...
Perhaps less symmetry is the clue!
(as long as can, I usually build everything in perfect symmetry)

but how do you get the leaves to grow that far out?

ive never tried to attach stuff to a living tree, but does it just grow out like that?

sorry if a world collapses for you, but such trees don't "grow" naturally - this one was constructed block by block out of trunks and then Forehead made a temporary pane to grow some trees on it, then removed the pane, which left floating trees behind and is now giving you the impression of a giant-mega-ultra tree (with mega-ultra!).

But even though it's an artificial tree, it looks comparably good and is well done.

You (Forehead) are supposed to feel good now.

Good call Scroey, and not sure if you were being scarcastic or whatever..... but thanks.

Many people use inventory hacks to enable themselves to place leaf blocks or have infinite blocks of x type, I enjoy playing all legit. Also such a pain, monsters spawn under the tree now even during the day because of the canopy..... so many creeper deaths.

ah now i see the three stumps from underneath

what i meant what does the leafing expand if you add a wood block to it (aparantly not)

ofcourse i know they dont grow that big...(save for a mod or something)

@Forehead: I wasn't sarcastic. By (unwritten) law someone has to feel good when someone else appreciates someones work. I appreciate that tree. Therefore you have to to feel good. I demand it!

@Antario: The only legit way to make leafs is to plant a sapling on dirt/grass and wait. After some (usually 2-3) days suddenly a 4-7 blocks high trunk, with or without branches summons and it slowly generates several blocks of leafs based on available light. (that specific fact was found out when growing these trees inside my pryramid, in almost entire darkness, where only torches provide light at all)
Note: A leaf block needs to be attached to a trunk or a leaf attached to a trunk (up to 5 blocks or so) to persist. Otherwise it will decay.
Further (and more precise and certain) rules about tree growth can be found on minecraftwiki.net .
The wiki leaves almost no question open.

Do not read the wiki if you don't want to have all secrets (and with it some fun and experimentation) sucked out of the gameplay... *sigh*

1. This IS a link: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki and what Antario posted is also a working link, only with a fancy string covering it. Just click it.
2. Either you played the (very very outdated) Classic/free version of Minecraft or you are really lazy to experiment.

Here is the easiest tutorial possible (for the very lazy and/or MSAU (most stupid assumable user)):
1. Find a tree. (drag mouse to change view)
2. Move closely to the found tree. (use WASD and SPACE to move)
3. Punch the tree till it breaks. (hold left mouse button)
4. Pick up the little trunk blocks it dropped.
5. Press I.
6. Leftclick the trunk block.
7. Drag it into one of the 4 squares at the top-right corner and leftclick again.
8. Leftclick the stack of 4 wooden planks that appear in the single square right besides the 4 squares.
9. Rightclick into each of the 4 squares in the left.
10. Leftclick the workbench in the single square.
11. Leftclick into a free square in the lowest 10 squares.
12. Press ESC. (top-left corner of your keyboard)
13. Roll the scrollwheel of your mouse until the workbench is highlighted. (the scrollwheel is usually at the middle of your mouse)
14. Rightclick on the ground. (move the camera until it is pointing towards ground, but not to the block you are standing on)
15. Rightclick the workbench to access it.
16. a) Start thinking what you could do next.
b) Stop thinking and start looking at the pictures here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting

wrote by: myself

In case you are not a moron or mentally/physically disabled this should be easy enough for really everyone to understand and a help to get the VERY BASIC mechanics of Minecraft. The rest can be learned by trial&error or reading the wiki (link at the top).

However: if you don't, probably no one can help you.
Have fun exploring Minecraft!

Disclamer: I do not intend to offend anyone by proving this very easy MSAU tutorial. (better known as "minecraft for dummies")

Thanks, I all ready learned how to craft from the wiki, and some how ended up spending 5 hours building a house with a 3 story basement and volted ceilings xD

I have doors, paintings on the wall, etc. Seems my brothers copy is out dated tho, can't make a bed ; ;

He's possibly intentionally out of date. Beds came in 1.3. People will sometimes refuse to update so they can still play on servers that are out of date.
