Broken/Bypassed? I think so. I must have reported 9 spams just now. I won't even try to claim them for my growing horde since its obviously one spam bot hitting the forum repeatedly every 2 minutes.

We need a spam prevention stat for users. When a spam is reported and deleted the one who reports it gets a point. :)

seriously... wow. Looks like someone is going to have to go through the USER database and flag all the strange names in there. None of the spams were made by newly created accounts.
"Our newest member LashoChildres" has stayed the same since the start of this. So these have been in there since at least "Tue 19 Aug, 2014 9:27 pm" according to one account.

edit: awww... there are only about 13 pages of spam bot names in the user database (I stopped counting after 13 pages). lolz.

So you're saying these are all from old accounts? Weird.

not old accounts really... just dormant ones that have been sitting a few days. Some forums have auto transfer out of new status (and all the restrictions that entails) after XX days.
Just click on members and then sort by join date. You can see on the first page... a dozen or so odd names that are quite obviously spam accounts. What you can do is a look up of joins per day and if you see more then usual joins a day look at all joins on that day. I guarantee at least 13 full pages of spam accounts.

I might even go as far as to say... 0 posts and no recent visits in last x months... delete account. I did that to one of my forums. I cut out 5/9ths of its user database. Which was NO small number. We are talking hundreds of pages of user names that had no posts and no recent visits in at least 8 months. I made an announcement it was coming 2 weeks before it was to happen. No one complained afterwords.

hmhm. I suggested the idea of removing spambot users from the Database before, but yeah, I don't have the authority to do that sort of stuff myself. Banning them serves no real purpose, and they only do four or so posts each.

I can delete the posts though, but there's more every few hours.

I wiped out a bunch of gibberish names. Seems stable for the time being. Thanks for keeping an eye out folks.
