Did you alt-tabbed out of SPAZ while it was showing the initial loading screen?

Cause if you do that, SPAZ kinda "forgets" what it loaded before you alt-tabbed out.

Alt tab is usually the cause for this. Try windows mode, or vice versa and see if that helps keep the game in focus.

Alt-Tab of Doom happens often. Windowed mode will help if you still want to Alt-Tab. However, I'm no good with the technical side of things.

I'm sure some folks can get away with it, but it does seem to be the root of these types of issues.

Doesn't processing go on in the background? Alt+Tab doesn't suspend(unless the application detects it and does it itself) it just pushes the application to the background. It will get less processing attention and what not but, I don't see why it would cause glitches like this unless the application is not handling the swapping of video memory correctly from ram back to video card.

Alt-Tab just does some really weird things to full-screen games. No matter how smoothly they run before, a single alt-tab can crash them.
