The demo plays fine. The Steam game crashes on startup every time, with the Visual C++ Runtime Error. See attached image. I attach the console.log and dxdiag output in case they are useful.

I have already tried re-installing the Visual C++ run-times. I have tried running it with Game Booster. My virus checker is McAfee.

I have tried re-downloading the game three times, with the same result each time. Steam says the files are OK.

Once again, the demo plays fine. Unfortunately there are over 800 file changes between the Steam game and the demo, so I can't usefully compare the two to find out why the full game doesn't work.

Please help!

Hmm, looks like the alien FX might be blowing things up. Are you at least able to see the configuration screen?

Nope - it doesn't display anything before the error message.

Ahh it is the light detection algorithm for your AlienWare rig. Most likely, your AlienFX lighting drivers are out of date, but I have an easy fix for now. I will attach a file that will turn off the lighting routines in SPAZ and it should work fine again.

And here is that file. unzip, then place in game/gamescripts/ it will overwrite the file in there already.

Sorry for the issues. Please let us know if this doesn't work for you.

This is a ridiculous question, but where can I locate the "game/gamescripts" directory?

I need to resolve this issue quickly as I'm about to board a plane in a couple of hours and this is why I purchased this game! ha!

It was indeed a dumb question. Sometimes I really dislike Steam... I believe I've found it. Will post back with results.
